This year, the Escape introduces a new Active Premium Tech trim along with updated technology features across other versions.
The 2024 Ford Escape starts at $35,344 for the Active trim, making it an affordable choice in its category. This base model comes with decent standard equipment, but I must admit that the more well-equipped trims are significantly more appealing. Next is the ST-Line at $36,844, featuring a sportier design and additional options. Moving up, we have the ST-Line Select at $41,944, followed by the ST-Line Elite at $45,874. For a more luxurious finish with all available options, the Platinum trim is priced at $44,374. Finally, the plug-in hybrid version sits at the top of the lineup at $46,294.
The 2025 Ford Escape competes in one of the most competitive segments in the market. Compact SUVs are highly popular, and buyers are becoming increasingly selective. Fortunately, the Escape offers a strong combination of features and affordability, making it a solid choice in its class.
Competitors: Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Hornet, Ford Bronco Sport, GMC Terrain, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen Tiguan.
What I appreciate most about the 2025 Ford Escape is its more European-inspired design. Ford can afford to take this approach because the Bronco Sport caters to those looking for a more rugged, American aesthetic. The Escape is sleek and refined, with a design that remains pleasing to the eye. In my opinion, it's one of the best-executed models in its segment.
Inside, the cabin is spacious and extremely comfortable. The ergonomics have been well thought out, and the technology integrates seamlessly into the dashboard. One standout feature I love about the Escape is the ability to slightly recline the rear seats. This small detail makes a big difference when transporting adults on long trips.
Ford's infotainment system is among the easiest to use on the market. I also really like its blue dashboard display. The driver-assistance technologies are effective without being intrusive.
The 2025 Ford Escape offers no less than four powertrain options:
A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.
A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain delivering 192 horsepower, with an impressive fuel economy of 5.6 L/100 km in the city and 6.5 L/100 km on the highway.
A plug-in hybrid version using the same 2.5-liter engine, but with 210 horsepower and a 14.4 kWh battery, allowing it to travel 60 km on a full charge.
A more affordable plug-in hybrid version would be appreciated.
Lacks a true high-performance ST variant.
Comfortable and enjoyable to drive.
Offers a great selection of colors.
Fully equipped with advanced technology.
Fun and engaging driving experience.
One of the few vehicles in its class with up to 3,500 lbs of towing capacity.
The Ford Escape remains a cornerstone of the brand.
While the Escape may not be as popular as it once was, it remains a highly relevant and compelling choice. If you're in the market for a new vehicle, the Ford Escape is definitely worth considering.
